For this round of our TV Olympics (only 4 more rounds left after today), we’re looking at mother/son duos!
This poll is for actual mothers (not mother-figures), and since the relationship between mom and son is a key part of the poll, they need to have appeared in a number of episodes together, and infant sons are excluded. If you know of any duos you believe should be in the poll, leave their names and the show in a comment!
Poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 3 of your favorite mother/son duos. Remember to keep checking the main event page for all the current polls and results!
What's your favorite mother/son duo? (Choose up to 3!)
Martha and Castle - Castle (33%, 99 Votes)
Emma and Henry - Once Upon a Time (16%, 48 Votes)
Madeline and Michael - Burn Notice (12%, 37 Votes)

First up on the calendar, it’s time to vote for the spooky and funny episodes that either give you great ideas for costumes and pranks or make you afraid to sleep at night.
If there are any great Halloween episodes I left out, please nominate them in the comments! Side note – I love the vampire/Spanish symmetry of the left and right pictures above.
Poll will be open for one week, and you can vote for up to 3 episodes. Be sure to check out our other ongoing Olympic polls and the medal results on our main event page!

Yes, just about every baby and toddler you see on TV is absolutely adorable. But which ones are your favorites? You can only pick three! From Angel to Up All Night, many shows have featured cute babies and sweet preschoolers.
Poll with be open for one week, and if I missed any kids, please nominate them! They should be part of the main show, not just flashbacks or special episodes, and live-action, scripted shows only, please.
Who is your favorite newborn to kindergarten-aged kid? (Choose up to 3!)
Round two of TV Breakroom’s Olympic mini-poll event features married couples in live-action, scripted shows! Some of these were married when their shows began, others found their way to each other throughout the show. (With Once Upon a Time’s Prince Charming and Snow White, it was a little of both!)
If you haven’t already voted on Cutest Couple Names, you still have 6 days left! And keep up with all the polls and results on our main event page.
Like all the other polls in this event, this poll will be open for one week. You can vote for up to 3 married couples, and the top 3 will be awarded medals toward their shows’ totals!

Adam Baldwin, most famous for his gun-toting Firefly and Chuck roles, will be appearing on the first three episodes of next season’s Law & Order: SVU, as an interim replacement for Capt. Steve Harris (who’s in a bit of a pickle after the season finale events). From Baldwin’s previous roles, I’m getting the feeling he’s not going to be the most understanding temporary boss.
I’m glad Adam Baldwin is getting all these guest spots (he also was recently on Castle and Leverage), but I’d really like to see him on a show of his own again soon!
Chuck’s mom is back! Or the original Sarah Connor. Or the lead actress of the original Beauty and the Beast TV drama (which is receiving a reboot this fall).
However you know Linda Hamilton, her character on Lost Girl will be a legendary assassin, a role which will add a darker twist to her history of action characters. She’ll appear in season 3’s 10th episode.
This Monday Madness, as nominated by Kathy Manno, we’re looking at TV villains! Some of these villains are pure evil, while others have a redeemable side and eventually begin working with the good guys – but please vote for them as a villain, not a hero! Some of these villains are so evil they can keep you awake at night, while others are so hilarious in their villainy that you almost want them to win.
This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite TV villains. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10! Fans have used Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, forums, Reddit, blogs, and chatboxes to get the word out about past polls. Get creative!
Even though there are 50-some options on this list, I know there are dozens of TV villains I left out! You can nominate villains I missed in the comments until Thursday night, and I may add them to the poll (villains from live-action scripted shows only, please).
Want more of a say in who makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter or like TV Breakroom on Facebook, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll. Please help out with nominations! There are only so many shows I can watch personally, so I’m counting on you to fill me in!
Without further ado, here’s the poll for this week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 1AM June 25th.
Who is your favorite TV villain? (Choose up to 10!)
Okay, this news is just amazing! Adam Baldwin (one of my favorite actors) is guest-starring on Leverage (one of my favorite shows)!
Baldwin and Leverage’s Christian Kane both appeared in Angel’s fifth season, and Kane’s character was one out of only two characters to appear in both the pilot and the finale of the show. Baldwin is best known to TV fans for playing Jayne on Firefly and John Casey on Chuck.
TV Guide shared this:
Baldwinwill play the possibly recurring role Col. Michael Vance, an ex-Army Ranger who now runs a government counter-terrorism unit. However, Vance often ruffles the feathers of other intelligence community bureaucrats with his unorthodox method of recruiting small teams of agents — and even civilians — from a wide range of expertise. Sounds like the kind of guy who might call on Nate & Co. for help, right?
This Monday Madness, in honor of Father’s Day this coming Sunday here in the US, we’re looking at TV dads! These dads, whether grounded or goofy, often set the tone of their shows, and no matter how difficult or stubborn, always have a soft spot for their kids. This poll is focusing on actual (both biological and adoptive) dads, since including father-like figures would have made it too lengthy – though many of the dads on this poll do have a father-like role in other characters’ lives.
This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite TV dads. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10! Fans have used Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, forums, Reddit, blogs, and chatboxes to get the word out about past polls. Get creative!
Even though there are 50 70-some options on this list, I know there are dozens of TV dads I left out! You can nominate fathers I missed in the comments until Thursday night, and I may add them to the poll (dads from live-action scripted shows only, please, and the dad must be in at least 3 episodes of the show).
Voting ends around 1AM June 18th.
Who is your favorite TV dad? (Choose up to 10!)
Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) - Castle (14%, 1,951 Votes)
John Winchester (Jeffery Dean Morgan & Matt Cohen) - Supernatural (10%, 1,362 Votes)
Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) - Eureka (5%, 681 Votes)
Henry Spencer (Corbin Bernsen) - Psych (4%, 620 Votes)
The votes have been tallied, and the winners have emerged! Here are the top 10 favorite couples from realistic/contemporary TV shows, as voted by you!
It’s worth noting that only Bones has two couples in the top 10, though 7 shows managed to have two sets of sweethearts in the top 20! And speaking of the top 20, I plan to combine this poll’s top 20 with the speculative TV show couples top 20, as well as 10 new/wild card choices, for an ultimate fan poll sometime this fall. So if you’re wondering how Nathan Fillion’s Castle (and Beckett) would fare against his Malcolm Reynolds (and Inara), or David Boreanaz’s Booth (and Brennan) against his Angel (and Buffy), stay tuned!
When CBS announced its fall schedule, it released behind-the-scenes of its new shows, but here, finally, are actual trailers for them:
Elementary – Thursdays at 10
This trailer is making me even more excited about the show. The only part that seemed overly BBC Sherlock was the “bored” bit of dialog (and correct me if I’m wrong, but apparently that’s from the books). I’m looking forward to having 16+ addition hours of Holmes every year!
Vegas – Tuesdays at 10
This trailer makes me want to watch the show a little less, partly because I was only going to check out the pilot for curiosity’s sake, and the trailer answered too many of my questions.
Made in Jersey – Fridays at 9
The trailer made the show slightly more interesting than the behind-the-scenes preview, but that’s not saying much. I’m still not watching.
Partners – Mondays at 8:30
Brandon Routh seems a little awkward in his role, but then I’m used to him as a villain on Chuck. And will CBS please get rid of laugh tracks?
This round of Monday Madness, it’s time to look at TV couples! Because there are so many, I’ve divided this poll into 2 categories – realistic/contemporary and speculative. We’ll cover vampires, time travel, and spaceships next week. This week, we’re looking at couples from dramas, comedies, crime shows, and action. (And yes, it was really hard to decide where to put the couples from Chuck, with the show’s speculative elements, but since the show focuses on the spy aspect, I felt it was best to put it with the other spy shows.)
This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite TV couples. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10!
Even though there are 40 50-some options on this list, I know there are dozens of couples I left out! You can nominate couples I missed in the comments, and I may add them to the poll. You can also start nominating couples from paranormal, futuristic, and other outside-the-box shows for next week. Want more of a say in who makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll.
Without further ado, here’s the poll for this week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 1AM May 28th.
This week on Monday Madness, it’s time to vote for your favorite TV finales! This poll is for season and series finales of both cable and broadcast shows. But this week there’s a twist – for the first seven days, you can nominate your favorite finales and I’ll add them to the poll! I’m doing this because I got so few nominations, and I didn’t want to limit the poll to just my favorites.
This poll will be open for TWO weeks, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite finales. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10! And as shows finish up their runs this year, you can nominate them for a spot on the poll!
Want more of a say in what makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll.
Without further ado, here’s the poll for this AND next week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 1AM May 21th.
Update: this poll has closed. I planned to do a results post like I do with other Monday Madness polls, but I realized any pictures I posted would be full of spoilers (or else very boring). So I decided to skip that part this time.

This round of Monday Madness, it’s time to look at those crazy characters in the shows we love. Often, they’re on the sidelines – not the main character, their romantic interest, or the person in charge. They provide comic relief in otherwise serious shows, or are a main source of laughter in comedies. They can be indispensable, evil, or hopelessly inept. But they refuse to fade into the background, and the shows wouldn’t be the same without them.
This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite quirky characters. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10!
Even though there are 40 options on this list, I know there are many great characters I left out! As always, you can cast write-in ballots by leaving a comment. Want more of a say in what makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll.
Without further ado, here’s the poll for this week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 1AM April 16th.

By watching the ratings, I was pretty sure this show would get renewed, but it’s nice to see the early pickup. With Chuck ending this year, the only other veteran shows I watched on NBC were Community and The Office. Now there’s Grimm, Smash, and Awake. In fact, NBC was the only channel I watched last night!
