Amy Acker Cast In Person of Interest Season 1 Finale – TVLine

One of my favorite actors from Angel and Dollhouse, Amy Acker has been guesting in a bunch of my new favorite shows this year. First Grimm, then Once Upon a Time, and now Person of Interest. In the latter, she’ll be playing a psychologist whose number comes up in the season finale.

Monday Madness: Who’s Your Favorite Quirky Character?

This round of Monday Madness, it’s time to look at those crazy characters in the shows we love. Often, they’re on the sidelines – not the main character, their romantic interest, or the person in charge. They provide comic relief in otherwise serious shows, or are a main source of laughter in comedies. They can be indispensable, evil, or hopelessly inept. But they refuse to fade into the background, and the shows wouldn’t be the same without them.

This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite quirky characters. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10!

Even though there are 40 options on this list, I know there are many great characters I left out! As always, you can cast write-in ballots by leaving a comment. Kenneth Mitchell Cast in Grimm Season 1 Episode – TVLine

Bigfoot’s coming to Grimm! Or at least it will be a Sasquatch-like wesen, played by Kenneth Mitchell (best known for his role on Jericho, he was also on the superhero Castle episode).

And yes, I think I watch too much TV – when I heard about this, all I could think of was how excited Marshall from How I Met Your Mother would be to have proof that Bigfoot is real.

The episode is set to air during May sweeps.

Grimm Renewed For Season 2 — NBC

By watching the ratings, I was pretty sure this show would get renewed, but it’s nice to see the early pickup. With Chuck ending this year, the only other veteran shows I watched on NBC were Community and The Office. Now there’s Grimm, Smash, and Awake. In fact, NBC was the only channel I watched last night!

Silas Weir Mitchell on playing Monroe on ‘Grimm,’ and filming in Portland | OregonLive.com

While searching to see if the actor who plays Monroe on Grimm has a Twitter account (currently, no), I came across this awesome interview with him! From his first acting gig in third grade playing Hansel (from the Grimm story Hansel and Gretel!) to how he manages filming in Portland while his wife lives in LA, Silas gives a fun look at his life and his unexpected popularity as Monroe.

Grimm “Plumed Serpent” With Danielle Panabaker | TV Equals

Tonight’s fire-breathing Grimm stars Danielle Panabaker (who I’m most familiar with on the movie Sky High; her sister Kay starred in No Ordinary Family). This time, Nick’s duties as a Grimm threaten the person he loves most – Juliette. Check out a sneak peek below.

Once Upon a Time — Dreamy Preview, Amy Acker

Wow, quite a different look for Amy Acker from her recent Grimm outing! That was more Whiskey (Dollhouse). This character seems to be more Fred (Angel). She’s adorable in all pink. And it’s interesting that the fairy mythology is being developed a little in this video clip.

March Madness: Grimm vs. Psych

Grimm dives into the world of Portland, Oregon homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt, who discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. Monroe, a reformed “Big Bad Wolf”, reluctantly helps him.

Psych features novice sleuth Shaun Spencer (James Roday), who is hired by the police after he cons them into thinking he has psychic powers that help solve crimes. With this assistance of his reluctant best friend, Gus (Dule Hill), the duo take on a series of complicated cases.

Which crime-solving duo do you prefer to have on the case? Leave a comment with your choice!

March Madness Comes to TV Breakroom

TV Breakroom is doing its own version of March Madness! And there’s a prize!

You will vote between two shows by leaving a comment with your choice on a bracket post (not on this post – though feel free to predict the winner here!). Every 6 days this month, I will close the comments, add up the totals, and set things up for the next stage of the bracket. I’ll link to all of the bracket posts here.

Every comment you leave throughout the month, whether to vote in the bracket or normal comments on other posts, will count as one entry toward a $15 Amazon gift card. Only one comment per post will count as an entry, and comments flagged as spam will be ignored. Contest begins on March 1, 2012 at 12:01 EST and ends March 31, 2012 at 11:59 EDT. Winner must provide email address and respond to winning notification within 3 days.

For a show to qualify, it had to air at least 5 new episodes between June 1, 2011 and February 29, 2012. It also has to be a US show (airing originally on a US broadcast or cable network, no matter where it was filmed), and I have to have seen at least 5 episodes of the show.

Here is the final match-up! The order in which shows would face each other was created by Random.org. Click the match-up to go to its bracket post and vote! Voting for this round ends around 1AM on March 31st, so get your votes in now!

Spoilers on Glee, Good Wife, Community Body of Proof and More — Ask Ausiello

Scoop on a whole bunch of shows! The news about an Ocean’s 11 episode of Community is probably the best out of the bunch (only considering that Community’s return March 15th was announced in a previous post). I’m also excited to find out that Grimm will be looking back at the death of Nick’s parents.

NBC’s Awake: Watch the Premiere Here and Now! – TVLine

Just finished watching Awake’s premiere and loved it! Very interesting psychologically – and both realities have a washed-out look that adds a surreal touch to the show. I loved how the crimes intersected in strange ways. I’ve been anticipating this show for the better part of a year, and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint!

The 2011-2012 TV season has certainly been one for online premieres. From Fox’s New Girl to NBC’s own Grimm and Smash, shows offering a sneak peek at the first episode seem to be doing pretty well ratings-wise. While people (like me) who watch a premiere online before it airs might not tune into the TV premiere, the word of mouth the show garners in return seems worth it.

However, an online premiere alone doesn’t make a show a guaranteed success. Bad buzz spreads just as fast (or faster) than good buzz.
