The Big Bang Theory Casts Casey Sander as Bernadette’s Father – TVLine

Not seeing the resemblance, so I hope whoever they cast as Bernadette’s mother looks more like her. As least Sander looks like someone Howard should be afraid of, which is sure to bring laughs.

Monday Madness: Who’s Your Favorite Quirky Character?

This round of Monday Madness, it’s time to look at those crazy characters in the shows we love. Often, they’re on the sidelines – not the main character, their romantic interest, or the person in charge. They provide comic relief in otherwise serious shows, or are a main source of laughter in comedies. They can be indispensable, evil, or hopelessly inept. But they refuse to fade into the background, and the shows wouldn’t be the same without them.

This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite quirky characters. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10!

Even though there are 40 options on this list, I know there are many great characters I left out! As always, you can cast write-in ballots by leaving a comment. Want more of a say in what makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll.

Without further ado, here’s the poll for this week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 1AM April 16th.

TV Ratings Thursday: ‘Big Bang Theory’ Doesn’t Dent ‘Community;’ ‘Awake,’ ‘Missing’ Keep Sliding, As Most Shows Decline – Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

People who were worried about The Big Bang Theory affecting Community’s ratings can relax a little – Community’s rating is exactly what it was last week, when CBS was airing basketball. Even better, it was rated higher than 30 Rock, which follows Community in a less competitive timeslot.

Not so good are the ratings for NBC’s Awake, and ABC’s Missing. I’ve only caught one episode of Missing so far and thought it was decent, but I’ll be really sad to see Awake go. It puts such a cool twist on a crime drama (would have loved to see it following NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles on Tuesdays on CBS instead of Unforgettable).

Ratings — Community Returns With Wins Over American Idol

True, the win over American Idol was just with Adults 18-34 ratings in the common half hour, but it’s still amazing! The 2.2 rating was a season high for the show. Last week, 30 Rock only managed a 1.4 in that slot. True, it was up against The Big Bang Theory, but this week Community was up against the start of March Madness basketball and ABC’s premiere of Missing.

CBS Renewals for 2012-13 TV Season – Blue Bloods

CBS is starting the renewal season off with a bang, announcing the renewal of 15 more shows (in addition to 3 which had already been renewed, including The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother).

Freshmen shows that got the early pickup were 2 Broke Girls and Person of Interest. The low-rated but critically acclaimed The Good Wife also was renewed.

As for the shows not renewed thus far, it doesn’t mean they’re canceled, just that CBS is waiting on cast confirmations and pilot viewing before deciding the rest of their schedule, but I wouldn’t care if all of them ended up not being renewed. NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Blue Bloods, in addition to the shows mentioned above, are the only ones I care about.

For a full list of the renewed shows, visit the link below.

March Madness: Community vs. The Big Bang Theory

Two competing comedies got all the votes against CW dramas Nikita and Ringer. But now it’s time to decide: what will you watch at 8/9c Thursday nights, CBS’s The Big Bang Theory or NBC’s Community? More importantly, which one will advance to round three of March Madness?

Community features smart-aleck lawyer Jeff Winger (Joel McHale), whose education is deemed void by the bar and is forced to attend a local community college with an extremely eclectic staff and student body.

The Big Bang Theory – A woman who moves into an apartment next door to two brilliant but socially awkward physicists shows them how little they know about life outside of the laboratory.

Vote and send your favorite onward!

Update: Though tied below, an additional vote on the main March Madness post gave Community the win! Vote for it here!

March Madness: The Big Bang Theory vs. Ringer

The Big Bang Theory – A woman who moves into an apartment next door to two brilliant but socially awkward physicists shows them how little they know about life outside of the laboratory.

Ringer – A young woman (Sarah Michelle Gellar) on the run from the mob poses as her wealthy twin sister to try and evade them, but soon discovers that her sister has a price on her head as well.

Smart and funny versus drama and intrigue – which will you choose?

March Madness Comes to TV Breakroom

TV Breakroom is doing its own version of March Madness! And there’s a prize!

You will vote between two shows by leaving a comment with your choice on a bracket post (not on this post – though feel free to predict the winner here!). Every 6 days this month, I will close the comments, add up the totals, and set things up for the next stage of the bracket. I’ll link to all of the bracket posts here.

Every comment you leave throughout the month, whether to vote in the bracket or normal comments on other posts, will count as one entry toward a $15 Amazon gift card. Only one comment per post will count as an entry, and comments flagged as spam will be ignored. Contest begins on March 1, 2012 at 12:01 EST and ends March 31, 2012 at 11:59 EDT. Winner must provide email address and respond to winning notification within 3 days.

For a show to qualify, it had to air at least 5 new episodes between June 1, 2011 and February 29, 2012. It also has to be a US show (airing originally on a US broadcast or cable network, no matter where it was filmed), and I have to have seen at least 5 episodes of the show.

Here is the final match-up! The order in which shows would face each other was created by Random.org. Click the match-up to go to its bracket post and vote! Voting for this round ends around 1AM on March 31st, so get your votes in now!

NCIS: LA, House — News and Spoilers — Inside Line

It’s rare that I read a multi-show spoiler article that mostly features shows I actually watch, but this one does, down to every character pictured above! From a Kensi-centric NCIS: Los Angeles episode to a Chase-centric House episode, there’s tons of news! There are also hints at future episodes of Person of Interest, White Collar, The Big Bang Theory, and 2 Broke Girls.
