Monday Madness: Favorite Brother/Sister Duo

Update: This poll is now closed. View the winners here, and check out this week’s poll!

This Monday Madness, vote for your favorite brother/sister duos! While many shows include 3, 4, or more siblings, this poll only focuses on a brother/sister pair – there may be other siblings, but only if they are less of a focus. (I may do a families poll in the future to cover families with multiple siblings like the Bluths.) As in the previous polls, I only included more recent shows, and included both half- and step-siblings, as well as adopted siblings (but not siblings-in-law).

I also did not include siblings when one of them is only in a handful of episodes.  My general rule of thumb was going with siblings who had both been in at least 1/3 of the episodes. Be sure to keep that in mind with any nominations!

The winners of last week’s poll are here.

This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 5 of your favorite TV brother/sister duos. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will win!

I had a hard time coming up with duos for this list, so I know there are brother/sister pairs I left out! As always, you can cast write-in ballots by leaving a comment, and if I receive several nominations, I may add them to the poll! Want more of a say in what makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll.

Without further ado, here’s the poll for this week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 12AM March 31st.

Which is your favorite TV brother/sister duo? (Choose up to 5!)

  • Roman and Sophia (Star-Crossed) (31%, 874 Votes)
  • Elena and Jeremy Gilbert (The Vampire Diaries) (17%, 468 Votes)
  • Oliver and Thea Queen (Arrow) (10%, 269 Votes)
  • Annie and Dixon Wilson (90210) (9%, 244 Votes)
  • Ross and Monica Gellar (Friends) (8%, 211 Votes)
  • Simon and River Tam (Firefly) (6%, 162 Votes)
  • Sookie and Jason Stackhouse (True Blood) (4%, 121 Votes)
  • Claire Dunphy and Mitchell Pritchett (Modern Family) (3%, 91 Votes)
  • Dan and Jenny Humphrey (Gossip Girl) (3%, 85 Votes)
  • Chuck and Ellie Bartowski (Chuck) (3%, 78 Votes)
  • Casey and Rusty Cartwright (Greek) (2%, 54 Votes)
  • Frankie and Jane Rizzoli (Rizzoli and Isles) (1%, 40 Votes)
  • Lindsay and Sam Weir (Freaks and Geeks) (1%, 26 Votes)
  • Amber and Drew Holt (Parenthood) (1%, 22 Votes)
  • Ryan and Lisa Shay (Suburgatory) (1%, 17 Votes)

Monday Madness: Favorite TV Sisters

Since our last poll featured TV brothers, now it’s time to vote for TV sisters!

Sisters seem to be a lot less common on TV than brothers. Like the previous poll, I only included more recent shows (2000-present, hence the absence of the Huxtable sisters), and included both half- and step-sisters (but not sisters-in-law). There are some slight spoilers for a few shows (two characters actually being sisters, a sister being still alive to be in multiple episodes, etc.).

I also did not include sisters when one of them is only in a handful of episodes. For example, Robin Scherbatsky’s sister Katie is only in 2 episodes (so far).  My general rule of thumb was going with sisters who had both/all been in at least 1/3 of the episodes. Be sure to keep that in mind with any nominations!

The winner of last week’s poll was Dean and Sam Winchester of Supernatural! Second place went to the Holmes brothers (Sherlock), followed by Klaus and Elijah (The Originals), Damon and Stefan (The Vampire Diaries), and Pete, Derrick, and Randy (Enlisted)!

This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 5 of your favorite TV sister duos (or trios). Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will win!

Even though there are many options on this list, I know there are sisters I left out!

Voting ends around 12AM March 17th.

Who are your favorite TV sisters? (Choose up to 5!)

  • Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell, and Paige Matthews (Charmed) (14%, 21 Votes)
  • Buffy and Dawn Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) (13%, 19 Votes)
  • Mary, Edith, and Sybil Crawley (Downton Abbey) (12%, 17 Votes)
  • Abbie and Jenny Mills (Sleepy Hollow) (12%, 17 Votes)
  • Beth and Maggie Green (The Walking Dead) (10%, 15 Votes)
  • Mary, Lucy, and Ruthie Camden (7th Heaven) (10%, 15 Votes)
  • Annie Walker and Danielle Brooks (Covert Affairs) (6%, 9 Votes)
  • Laurel and Sara Lance (Arrow) (5%, 7 Votes)
  • Meredith and Lexie Grey (Grey's Anatomy) (4%, 6 Votes)
  • Sarah and Julia Braverman (Parenthood) (4%, 6 Votes)
  • Kristin, Mandy, and Eve Baxter (Last Man Standing) (3%, 5 Votes)
  • Siobhan Martin and Bridget Kelly (Ringer) (3%, 4 Votes)
  • Amber and Abby Weaver (The Neighbors) (1%, 2 Votes)
  • Emily Thorne and Charlotte Grayson (Revenge) (1%, 1 Votes)
  • Cassie Blake and Diana Meade (The Secret Circle) (1%, 1 Votes)
  • Amy and Ashley Juergens (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) (1%, 1 Votes)
  • Jane Kerkovich-Williams and Alex Kerkovich (Happy Endings) (1%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 62

TV Olympics: Cutest Couple Name

We’re launching this year’s TV Olympics with the ever-so-cute (you can read that as sarcastic if you lean toward a more jaded view of the world) category of couple names! Often these are used by fans to promote their preferred pairing in shows with love triangles, but occasionally they’ve shown up in actual episodes:

The Big Bang Theory (The Zazzy Substitution):

Penny: Hey look, it’s Shamy.
Amy: Shamy?
Sheldon: Juvenile amalgamation of our names. Sheldon, Amy. Shamy.
Amy: Oh. I don’t like that. Don’t do that.

NCIS (Life Before His Eyes):

Tony: I remember you. Riva. No, Visa. No, no, no. Tiva!
Ziva: Ziva.

You can vote for up to 3 options, and the top 3 answers will receive medals for their shows! Poll closes in one week. Be sure to check out our other polls and results on the main event page!

Which is your favorite couple name? (Choose up to 3!)

  • Tiva (Tony and Ziva) - NCIS (28%, 456 Votes)
  • Densi (Deeks and Kensi) - NCIS: Los Angeles (18%, 284 Votes)
  • Caskett (Castle and Beckett) - Castle (15%, 235 Votes)
  • McAbby (McGee and Abby) - NCIS (11%, 186 Votes)
  • Shamy (Sheldon and Amy) - The Big Bang Theory (7%, 117 Votes)
  • Spuffy (Spike and Buffy) - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (4%, 68 Votes)
  • Bangel (Buffy and Angel) - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (4%, 58 Votes)
  • Shules (Shawn and Jules/Juliet) - Psych (3%, 52 Votes)
  • LoVe (Logan and Veronica) - Veronica Mars (3%, 45 Votes)
  • Chair (Chuck and Blair) - Gossip Girl (2%, 30 Votes)
  • Mikita (Michael and Nikita) - Nikita (2%, 27 Votes)
  • Clois (Clark and Lois) - Smallville (2%, 25 Votes)
  • Finchel (Finn and Rachel) - Glee (1%, 24 Votes)
  • Dair (Dan and Blair) - Gossip Girl (1%, 11 Votes)

Total Voters: 923

CW Fall 2012 Schedule, Supernatural to Wednesdays, Video Clips For ‘Arrow,’ ‘Beauty And The Beast,’ & ‘Emily Owens, M.D.’

The CW is the last of the broadcast networks to announce their fall schedule, with some major changes.

90210 moves to Mondays at 8, followed by a shortened finale season for Gossip Girl, and in midseason, The Carrie Diaries.

As I predicted, the CW’s two medical shows are on the same night, with Hart of Dixie on at 8 on Tuesdays, and Emily Owens, MD (formerly First Cut) at 9. A great slot, as the only similar show they’re competing against would be The Mindy Project at 9:30.

Wednesdays, new show Arrow will lead off the night, followed by “finally out of the Friday death slot” Supernatural.

The Vampire Diaries remains on Thursdays at 8, while Beauty and the Beast gets the plum slot following it.

Nikita moves to 9 following America’s Next Top Model, which means competition with Grimm and Fringe, but Supernatural didn’t do too bad in that slot, so there’s hope.

All in all, it seems like a very solid schedule for the CW, and I hope the network’s ratings next fall will reflect that. Cult will be a midseason show as well. For clips of the fall CW shows, click below.

Arrow, Beauty and the Beast TV Shows Picked Up, Nikita, Hart of Dixie Renewed By The CW – TVLine

The CW has renewed Nikita for its 3rd season (which also makes a 4th season more likely), and picked up 5 pilots to series: Arrow, Beauty and the Beast, The Carrie Diaries, Cult, and First Cut. No mention has been made of the much buzzed about Hunger-Games-meets-The-Bachelor drama The Selection.

Update: more renewal news! Fellow bubble show  Hart of Dixie has been renewed (anyone think they won’t pair it with First Cut?). Also, Gossip Girl was picked up for a shortened 11-episode season 6. Already renewed: Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and 90210, bringing the CW’s total to 11 hour-long shows. Freshmen dramas Ringer and The Secret Circle have been canceled.

The link below leads to full descriptions of the new shows picked up to series:

I just love getting all these cool hints about what’s coming up next for my favorite shows! (And this site does a great job on not making them too spoilery, but there are still some, so beware!) Loving the look ahead at How I Met Your Mother, Ringer (it’s been too long since there was a new episode!), and even a last peek at Chuck’s final episode!
