Well, considering the season 7 finale of How I Met Your Mother, it’s to be expected that Victoria (Ashley Williams) would stick around for a few episodes of season 8. Did you like her character all the way back in season one? Are you glad she’s back?

For all that vampires have taken over modern culture, they’re not all that prevalent on TV currently. There’s one series on broadcast (The Vampire Diaries), one on basic cable (Being Human, plus its sister show, the original British version, re-airing on BBC America), and one on premium cable (True Blood).
And in addition to an uncrowded target audience, NBC’s straight-to-series 10 episode order of Dracula has two other benefits – casting the talented Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the lead role, and setting it in Victorian London.

Catching up on posting some news from the past few days! Considering the awesomeness that is Community, I’m glad Dan Harmon’s doing a pilot for another show.
But a multi-camera show? I’ve found most of those boring. The only two I really enjoy are The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, and even they have quite a few off episodes and plotlines.
And Fox? They’re way too cancel-happy. Though they do seem a bit kinder to comedies than dramas, and they seem to be expanding their comedy time after the success of New Girl.

ABC has finally announced its fall 2012 premiere dates, with most shows coming back during the final week of September (starting Monday, September 24 with Castle, and ending Sunday, September 30 with Once Upon a Time at their normal times).
Notable exceptions include Suburgatory (which returns Wednesday, October 17, in a new 9:30 time slot), Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 (Tuesday, October 23 at 9 and 9:30 – I wonder if they did that so Apt. 23 would come back on the 23th – great way to get people to remember!), and the network’s two country-music themed offerings, Nashville (October 10) and Malibu Country (November 2).
The only new show I’m planning to check out on ABC this fall is Last Resort (premiering Thursday, September 27, at 8), with a cast that includes Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse), Autumn Reeser (No Ordinary Family), and Scott Speedman (Felicity).

Once Upon a Time is due for some British mythology with the casting of Sinqua Walls as Lancelot. I haven’t seen Walls in any of his previous TV roles (Teen Wolf, Friday Night Lights). What do you think about this bit of casting? Excited to see Arthurian legend come to Storybrooke?

Fans of NBC’s short-lived let’s-shuffle-this-off-into-oblivion-nothing-to-see-here-folks comedy Bent should be excited by star David Walton’s return to TV in Fox’s New Girl. Walton will play a reoccurring “bad boy” type who mistakes Jess for someone else. Being the quirky and mischievous person that she is, Jess decides to play along.

Michael Trucco briefly appeared on How I Met Your Mother as a guy Robin had a crush on, and he’s set to return in season 8 for a multi-episode arc. Who knows what that means for his current show, Fairly Legal.

Kelly’s storyline on The Office will get a chance to wrap up, as Mindy Kaling will be in two episodes of the upcoming season of the show. Kaling currently has her hands full writing, directing, and starring in her Fox comedy, The Mindy Project, which will premier online 4 weeks before its TV debut (another new Fox comedy, Ben & Kate, will do the same). The pilots of the two shows will be available to stream on Facebook, Fox.com, Hulu, Xfinity, Yahoo.com, AOL.com, and more.

Jack Coleman is getting a promotion. The Heroes vet previously reoccurred on The Office as Angela’s boyfriend/husband, a state senator. On Castle, he’ll play a US Senator who comes in conflict with Beckett. Who’s guessing he ties in to her mother’s murder?

Adam Baldwin, most famous for his gun-toting Firefly and Chuck roles, will be appearing on the first three episodes of next season’s Law & Order: SVU, as an interim replacement for Capt. Steve Harris (who’s in a bit of a pickle after the season finale events). From Baldwin’s previous roles, I’m getting the feeling he’s not going to be the most understanding temporary boss.
I’m glad Adam Baldwin is getting all these guest spots (he also was recently on Castle and Leverage), but I’d really like to see him on a show of his own again soon!
Sounds like Nina will be one of the hardest hit by the team’s eight-month hiatus. I guess Jedi-mind-tricking isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Interview with Laura Mennell at the link below.

This Monday evening, fans of SyFy’s original shows will be treated to the return of two of their favorites: Warehouse 13 at 9/8c, and Alphas at 10/9c.
Alphas, which won TV Breakroom’s poll for favorite summer show, picks up 8 months after last year’s finale, with the team mostly disbanded. Dr. Rosen has been discredited and held by the government after revealing the existence of Alphas to the public. As previously mentioned on this site, Erin Way will be joining the team as Kat, an Alpha who can easily pick up skills but suffers from rapid memory loss. New and returning guest stars scheduled to appear include:

C. Thomas Howell portrays Eli Aquino, an intense Alpha with super-speed who is bent on revenge.

Well, since Mike Ross can’t tell Rachel (hmm, are their names a deliberate Friends reference?) his big secret, it looks like the show has decided he needs someone new in his life – or rather, his old childhood friend, Tess. Tess will be played by Elisabeth Hower (who was on MTV’s I Just Want My Pants Back), whose multi-episode arc will begin in Suits’ midseason finale.
