This article is a great look at the TV-like structure in The Avengers, particularly in its ensemble cast. It compares Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams work in TV to their blockbuster films (Abrams’ Star Trek), and how by focusing on a group of “regular cast” makes the movies fun instead of overloaded.
