March Madness: Winner – Psych!

After an arduous month-long war, USA Network’s Psych has emerged as the victor of the first annual TV Breakroom March Madness!

The head-to-head final against Castle was the most difficult battle of the tournament. Each show garnered more than 300 votes, but in the end, Psych won by a mere eight votes! (There were some instances of double voting on both sides – I hope the perpetrators were simply casting votes for family members and not stuffing the ballot box.)

Psych’s odds were helped by some noteworthy accounts tweeting about the match-up. The official Psych twitter, Dulé Hill (who plays Gus on the show), and Maggie Lawson (who plays Juliet), among others, helped spread the news. Some Castle twitter accounts got in on the buzz as well, including fan site Castle TV and Molly Quinn (who plays Alexis Castle).

To celebrate Psych’s win, I’ve updated the background of this site with some Shawn and Gus awesomeness.

The winner of the $15 Amazon gift card will be announced tomorrow. You still have time to leave comments anywhere on the site (one per post) to get entries for the drawing. Giveaway will close at 11:59 PM EDT tonight.

Because of the wonderful reception you all gave to this March Madness tournament, I’m planning to bring in other head-to-head match-ups throughout the year. Check back on April 2 for the debut of Monday Madness!

Kenneth Mitchell Cast in Grimm Season 1 Episode – TVLine

Bigfoot’s coming to Grimm! Or at least it will be a Sasquatch-like wesen, played by Kenneth Mitchell (best known for his role on Jericho, he was also on the superhero Castle episode).

And yes, I think I watch too much TV – when I heard about this, all I could think of was how excited Marshall from How I Met Your Mother would be to have proof that Bigfoot is real.

The episode is set to air during May sweeps.

Castle Recap — Season 4, Episode 19 — Kate’s Secret Revealed – TVLine

Great recap of tonight’s episode – if you haven’t seen it yet, stop reading and don’t click on the link!

I was kind of disappointed that we only got one side of the story this week – he knows that she remembers, but she doesn’t know that he knows that she remembers. And with all the hubbub surrounding Beckett’s big secret, what is currently going on with Castle’s secret? Hasn’t been anything active going on with his investigation for a while.

Still, with only 4 episodes left in this season, something’s bound to happen very soon!

March Madness: Psych vs. Castle

After weeks of voting, it is down to the final match! Whenever I mentioned the Psych versus Community matchup, people groaned about making the choice, and the buzz made it my most-viewed post ever within a week! 163 brave souls made a decision, and Psych won, 91 to 72. Castle’s victory over Warehouse 13 was easier, as the SyFy show only managed to garner 4 votes.

And now, lovable rogue Nathan Fillion, who really is ruggedly handsome (and who is celebrating his birthday by raising money for charity: water – donate now!), along with the beautiful Stana Katic and the rest of the cast of Castle, goes up against the kings of comedy and 80s pop culture, the unstoppable James Roday and the smooth Dulé Hill. Shawn and Gus. Castle and Beckett. Which team do you want on your side?

The last battle begins. Which show will emerge victorious? It’s up to you! Vote in the comments below! And be sure to spread the word so your show can win!

Also remember, every comment (one per person per post, but you can comment on any or all of the hundreds of posts on this site) will give you one entry toward the $15 Amazon gift card!

Update: go here to see which show won!

Alyssa Milano Joins Mistresses, Royal Pains Casts New Doctor – TVLine

I’m most familiar with Alyssa Milano for her role as Castle’s former love in “A Rose for Everafter.” And I think Ben Shenkman looks far too much like Royal Pains brothers Hank and Evan for him not to be related to them. Also, the news that a Canadian broadcaster has ordered 13 more episodes of the US-bound The L.A. Complex starring Jewel Staite (Firefly) is great to hear!

ABC Close to Renewing Grey’s, Revenge, Castle, Once Upon a Time and More! – TVLine

Yay for more Castle, Suburgatory, and Once Upon a Time (though did we ever doubt they’d get renewed?)! Since those are the only ABC shows I watch (though I did enjoy the Missing premiere), I’m pretty happy with this news. Though this isn’t a formal renewal notice, it matches most renewal predictions.

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on House, Fringe, Castle, HIMYM, NCIS, Grey’s, The Killing and More! – TVLine

I love these inside scoop posts! This time, we find out that the final episodes of House will have plenty of House/Wilson moments, Castle will have zombies, Jimmy’s wedding on NCIS will be colorful, a new title for the Bones season finale, and that the How I Met Your Mother season finale will be magical.

March Madness: Warehouse 13 vs. Castle

The Final Four continues! Warehouse 13 barely eked out a victory over Burn Notice, but Castle trounced How I Met Your Mother. Now, two shows featuring charming jokesters and their more uptight partners face off for a chance to make it to the final match.

Show descriptions, in case you’ve been asleep for the past three rounds:

Warehouse 13 – After saving the life of the President in Washington D.C., a pair of U.S Secret Service agents are whisked away to a covert location in South Dakota that houses supernatural objects that the Regents, an Authority above and outside any government, have collected over the centuries. Their new assignment: retrieve any lost objects and investigate reports of new ones.

Castle – After a serial killer imitates the plots of his novels, successful mystery novelist Richard “Rick” Castle (Nathan Fillion) gets permission from the Mayor of New York City to tag along with an NYPD homicide investigation team for research purposes. He partners with Detective Kate Beckett, and uses a fictionalized version of her as the main character of his new series.

Make your choice in the comments below, and don’t forget to vote for Psych vs. Community!

March Madness: How I Met Your Mother vs. Castle

HIMYM barely won over The Finder as an out-of-place comment broke the tie. Person of Interest came out ahead initially, but a huge outpouring of fan support gave Castle the victory amid over 100 comments left! Now two NYC-based shows with strong Joss Whedon ties battle it out for a spot in the final four!

How I Met Your Mother is about a man in the year 2030 who begins telling his kids about how he met his wife via flashbacks from the future. The story starts in the year 2005, when then twenty-seven year old architect Ted Mosby was spurred on to want to get married after lawyer Marshall Eriksen and kindergarten teacher Lily Aldrin, his best friends, got engaged. Ted’s new quest in life was much to the dismay of his womanizing friend, Barney Stinson. But soon after Marshall and Lily’s engagement, Ted believed that his life mate was going to be news reporter and aspiring news anchor Robin Scherbatsky, who, despite having had a romantic relationship with her after this time, ended up being who the kids know as their “Aunt” Robin.

Castle – After a serial killer imitates the plots of his novels, successful mystery novelist Richard “Rick” Castle (Nathan Fillion gets permission from the Mayor of New York City to tag along with an NYPD homicide investigation team for research purposes. He partners with Detective Kate Beckett, and uses a fictionalized version of her as the main character of his new series.

Will you go with Willow or Malcolm Reynolds? Dr. Horrible or Captain Hammer? Wesley Wyndham-Pryce or Firefly Easter eggs? Vote below, and be sure to vote in the other matchups!

Castle Creator Weighs In on ‘Spectacular’ Finale Buzz, Dismisses Veronica Mars-Style Spin-Off – TVLine

Hmm, I hadn’t heard hints about Alexis having her own spin-off, but I’m kind of glad one doesn’t seem to be in the works. I like Alexis being on her “dad’s” show, but I’m not sure she’s a strong enough character to helm her own. Now, if she brought her grandmother along for the ride, I could see a show working, but where would Castle be without his mother and daughter?

This article also hints at the May 7th finale without giving much away. The finale means after tonight’s Castle-less evening, there will only be two more Mondays this season without a brand new Castle! The rest of May will seem very empty, though.

What do you think this finale holds? Leave your speculations in the comments below!
