Once Upon a Time Season 2 — Meghan Ory Promoted to Series Regular – TVLine

I’m excited about Meghan Ory’s promotion to series regular – I think Red can play a big part in the battle to take back the kingdom in fairy tale land.  I’m also curious to see what her life will be like in Storybrooke – her dual nature and current unattachment (no kids, no significant other) open a wealth of possibilities. I’d love to see Emilie de Ravin (Belle) be made a series regular as well, though her scenes will likely only be on the Storybrooke side.

Dallas Returns on TNT Wednesday, June 13

TNT is reviving the classic show Dallas with new episodes that extend the family rivalry, backstabbing, and secrets to a new generation. Every member of the family is hiding something from someone. Every member thinks they know what’s best for Southfork Ranch. And you can choose a member of the family to stand with and enter to win prizes by clicking the picture below:

dallas, dallas on tnt, tnt, j.r. ewing, sue ellen ewing, john ross ewing, ann ewing, rebecca sutter, elena ramos, christopher ewing, bobby ewing, southfork, southfork ranch, larry hagman, patrick duffy, linda gray, josh henderson, jesse metcalfe, jordana brewster, brenda strong, julie gonzalo, jordana
The image above shows the preview copy I received of tonight’s two-hour premiere (which begins on TNT at 9/8 central). I was selected to participate in TNT’s Dallas Roundup Network. I was not compensated for writing this post, but have received a screener of the first two episodes. Having never watched the original Dallas, I was a little confused at the beginning of how the family all fit together, but after I realized John Ross and Christopher were cousins, it began to make sense. Three actors reprise their roles from the original series – JR (Larry Hagman), Bobby (Patrick Duffy), and Sue Ellen (Linda Gray). If you also haven’t seen the original series, the catch-up clip below will help you out:

I thought the premiere episodes were excellent, though the constant friction as family members (and others) tried to outmaneuver each other was a little wearing. It’s definitely a serial show – you’ll want to watch every episode in order – but it’s not necessary to have watched the original Dallas to enjoy it. Out of all the shows I watch, I find it most similar to Ringer – almost a guy’s version of Ringer. Anyone could enjoy either show, but with Ringer the women have the biggest secrets and relationships are the focus, with business and wealth secondary concerns. In Dallas, the focus is on the guys – four strong male characters who want different things for the ranch and their lives. The four female characters have secrets and influence, but for the first episodes at least, the Ewing men steal the show.

I definitely will stick around for the next episode.

#spon: I’m required to disclose a relationship with Dallas.  This could include Dallas providing me with content, product, access or other forms of payment.

Top 15 Favorite Non-Original Cast Members

As chosen by you, the voters, here are the top 15 favorite non-original cast members! I expanded this list from 10 to 15 because six of the top 10 were from two related shows. Feel free to consider #11-15 honorable mentions if you’re a top 10 purist. 🙂

The poll, while it didn’t quite receive the most votes, set a new record for most-viewed poll (and post) to date – and all in one week! Thanks to everyone who voted, and especially to those who spread the word about the poll!

Here are the results!

Monday Madness: Favorite TV Dads

This Monday Madness, in honor of Father’s Day this coming Sunday here in the US, we’re looking at TV dads! These dads, whether grounded or goofy, often set the tone of their shows, and no matter how difficult or stubborn, always have a soft spot for their kids. This poll is focusing on actual (both biological and adoptive) dads, since including father-like figures would have made it too lengthy – though many of the dads on this poll do have a father-like role in other characters’ lives.

This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite TV dads. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10! Fans have used Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, forums, Reddit, blogs, and chatboxes to get the word out about past polls. Get creative!

Even though there are 50 70-some options on this list, I know there are dozens of TV dads I left out! You can nominate fathers I missed in the comments until Thursday night, and I may add them to the poll (dads from live-action scripted shows only, please, and the dad must be in at least 3 episodes of the show).

Want more of a say in who makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter or like TV Breakroom on Facebook, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll. Please help out with nominations! There are only so many shows I can watch personally, so I’m counting on you to fill me in!

Without further ado, here’s the poll for this week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 1AM June 18th.

New Extended Trailers for CW’s Arrow and Emily Owens, MD

The CW has finally corrected its too-short preview clips of new fall shows Arrow and Emily Owens, MD by releasing extended trailers!

Emily Owens, MD will air Tuesdays at 9, following fellow medical drama, Hart of Dixie. The show stars Mamie Gummer, Justin Hartley (who played the Green Arrow on Smallville), Kelly McCreary, and Michael Rady (who I’m most familiar with as Kostos in the Sisterhood movies; he’s also been reoccurring on The Mentalist and House of Lies recently). WARNING: This preview seems to give away the entire plot of the pilot, so if you’re already eager to watch it, I’d skip the trailer.

Arrow will air Wednesdays at 8, and will be followed by Supernatural. From this trailer, Arrow looks dark, intriguing, and awesome! This isn’t No Ordinary Family, or even The Cape – bad guys aren’t likely to be tied up and left for the police. And from The Hunger Games to The Avengers, archers are “in” right now. I’d describe this show as Hawkeye meets Batman meets The Count of Monte Cristo (only with an island instead of a prison). Arrow stars Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy (Monte Carlo, Melrose Place), Susanna Thompson (Kings, NCIS), Willa Holland, and Paul Blackthorne (The River).

Spoilers for True Blood, Once Upon a Time, Bones, and More! – TVLine

Another spoiler post, this one full of news about shows I love! Some highlights:

Those hoping for some Finder action on Bones aren’t crazy: Don’t think the thought hasn’t crossed the mind of the man in charge of both shows. “I would love that so much,” says Hanson. “But you would have to make sure it wasn’t self-indulgent. And I don’t have a sense right now how much the Bones audience would like to see that. And I don’t know if the Finder audience would want it to happen. But I personally think it would be great.” Hanson concedes that he’s still “exceedingly depressed” about The Finder‘s cancellation, confessing, “It’s hard to let go.” He also says that after some “initial wariness,” the Bones cast warmed up to “the Finder upstarts,” adding, “They all became very fond of each other. David [Boreanaz] really liked working with Geoff [Stults]. They got along terrifically well, so it would be fun to have them on [Bones].”

White Collar’s Sara Ellis will be in several episodes of season 4, but she won’t be a regular cast member (yay!).

Once Upon a Time will pick up right where it left off, and be on the lookout for more Disney princesses getting their stories told!

Hannibal Casts Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter — NBC – TVLine

Even though I’m not partial to dark dramas about serial killers, Hannibal’s cast is almost awesome enough to make me watch anyway. Their most recent addition is Mads Mikkelsen as the titular character. Mikkelsen was also just cast as the lead villain in Thor 2.

Monday Madness: Favorite Non-Original Cast Members

This Monday Madness, we’re looking at non-original cast members! Sometimes these characters replaced fan favorites who had left the show (for plot, personal, or business reasons), and often their presence upset the show’s dynamics. Many had a difficult time being accepted by long-time fans of the show, while with others it seemed like they had always been a part of the story. But, begrudgingly or with open arms, we learned to love most of these characters, and now you get to choose which ones are worthy of recognition!

This poll will be open for one week, and you can choose up to 10 of your favorite characters who joined their shows later on. Be sure to spread the word so your favorites will make it into the top 10!

Even though there are 50-some options on this list, I know there are dozens of characters I left out! You can nominate people I missed in the comments, and I may add them to the poll. I tried to limit this mostly to characters who joined after the complete first season, though with shorter-running shows I was more lenient. Want more of a say in who makes it onto the poll each week? Be sure to follow me on Twitter, since I usually ask for nominations for the next Monday Madness the weekend before the new poll. Please help out with nominations! There are only so many shows I can watch personally, so I’m counting on you to fill me in!

Without further ado, here’s the poll for this week’s Monday Madness! Voting ends around 1AM June 11th.

The Office Season 9 Cast — Catherine Tate – TVLine

Does anyone else hate the news that Catherine Tate has been promoted to a series regular on The Office? Nellie Bertram’s character has all of the worst characteristics of Michael Scott, and none of the lovable ones. This may be the final straw to get me to stop watching The Office altogether (and I never do that after I’ve invested more than a season or two into watching a show). Except for maybe two brief glimpses of humanness, the character of Nellie has been nothing but abrasive and annoying. At least I have Person of Interest and Beauty and the Beast to keep me occupied Thursdays at 9.

June Giveaway – White Collar!

As chosen by fans, for the month of June TV Breakroom is promoting White Collar! You can already see the updated site look, but the real prize is below – a giveaway! Winner will receive a White Collar season DVD set of their choice (including season three, which releases June 5th!) or a $20 Amazon gift card (note: entrants outside the US will receive an e-gift card due to shipping costs).

White Collar (created by Jeff Eastin) is the story of con man and art thief Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer), and the only man who has ever caught him (twice), FBI Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay). In lieu of an extended prison sentence for his escape, Neal agrees to work for the FBI as a consultant in the white collar crimes division, under Peter’s watchful eye. The cast also includes Peter’s wife Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen), Neal’s partner-in-crime Mozzie (Willie Garson), and FBI agents Jones (Sharif Atkins) and Diana (Marsha Thomason).

This is my first time using Rafflecopter for a giveaway, so please let me know if you have any troubles with it! I tried to make it as easy to understand as I could. Some ways enter will require doing something and then coming back to fill in the needed info, others you can do up to once a day! If you have other ideas of activities that you believe should earn entries, let me know and I may add them!

UPDATE: This giveaway has ended, but there’s a new one for July – Leverage!
