March Madness: Psych vs. Castle

After weeks of voting, it is down to the final match! Whenever I mentioned the Psych versus Community matchup, people groaned about making the choice, and the buzz made it my most-viewed post ever within a week! 163 brave souls made a decision, and Psych won, 91 to 72. Castle’s victory over Warehouse 13 was easier, as the SyFy show only managed to garner 4 votes.

And now, lovable rogue Nathan Fillion, who really is ruggedly handsome (and who is celebrating his birthday by raising money for charity: water – donate now!), along with the beautiful Stana Katic and the rest of the cast of Castle, goes up against the kings of comedy and 80s pop culture, the unstoppable James Roday and the smooth Dulé Hill. Shawn and Gus. Castle and Beckett. Which team do you want on your side?

The last battle begins. Which show will emerge victorious? It’s up to you! Vote in the comments below! And be sure to spread the word so your show can win!

Alyssa Milano Joins Mistresses, Royal Pains Casts New Doctor – TVLine

I’m most familiar with Alyssa Milano for her role as Castle’s former love in “A Rose for Everafter.” And I think Ben Shenkman looks far too much like Royal Pains brothers Hank and Evan for him not to be related to them. Also, the news that a Canadian broadcaster has ordered 13 more episodes of the US-bound The L.A. Complex starring Jewel Staite (Firefly) is great to hear!

ABC Close to Renewing Grey’s, Revenge, Castle, Once Upon a Time and More! – TVLine

Yay for more Castle, Suburgatory, and Once Upon a Time (though did we ever doubt they’d get renewed?)! Since those are the only ABC shows I watch (though I did enjoy the Missing premiere), I’m pretty happy with this news. Though this isn’t a formal renewal notice, it matches most renewal predictions.

Booktalk & More: Once Upon a Time 1.16: “Heart of Darkness”

I love the all caps emotion Ruth puts into her reviews, and this one has a lot! So glad the story is getting back to the “main characters” – and while I think they could have milked the “Snow White not acting like Snow White” thing a bit more, wrapping it all up made for a great episode.

A few of my own thoughts on the episode (spoilers!):

The dwarf intervention was hilarious. But they really need to make all the dwarfs a little more distinctive, not just Grumpy. We also need to see more of them in Storybrooke – I think Sleepy’s the only other one they’ve shown so far. Why hasn’t Doc shown up at the hospital?

I wonder what else went into Rumpelstiltskin’s true love potion – looked like just the hair but that would then happen all the time. And drinking two strands of hair sounds a little gross.

The tape recorder didn’t seem too out of place – I can see a small-town sheriff’s office being behind technology-wise.

So I was wrong – it seems like Kathryn is really dead. Still not sure why Regina would kill her, other than the obvious making of trouble for David and Mary Margaret. She seemed to actually want Kathryn as a friend, despite the whole “being so evil she can’t connect with anyone.” Unless the “something bad for trying to leave town” happened, and Regina just used the opportunity to her advantage. Not that I mind Kathryn being gone!

And I really want more details on why August is in Storybrooke!

Spoilers on Bones, Suburgatory, Mad Men — Spoiler Alert! Web Series – TVLine

The Spoiler Alert! web series is back, this time with discussion on AMC’s The Walking Dead season finale and Mad Men season premiere. Suburgatory’s Jeremy Sisto dishes on his Clueless co-star Alicia Silverstone joining the show for several episodes, and all the nods to the movie they were able to add in. And then Community’s Gillian Jacobs and Happy Endings’ Adam Pally pre-enact the birth scene from the next episode of Bones!

Lauren Stamile Back to Burn Notice Season 6 — USA Network – TVLine

Glad that Agent Pearce will return for season 6 of Burn Notice. Maybe she’ll be able to help Michael out with the jam with Fiona. Not happy that the actor playing Ansen is schedule to return for at least several episodes.

Jason O’Mara Joins CBS Ralph Lamb Pilot, Salli Richardson is Downwardly Mobile – TVLine

Well, it looks like Terra Nova stars aren’t holding out much hope for a Netflix revival, as another one has joined a pilot (for a show I very much doubt will make it to series). In my opinion, Terra Nova would be a terrible choice for Netflix’s initial resurrections. It doesn’t have enough of a cult following. In fact, this article lists a bunch of scifi-bent shows that would be a better choice for the digital streaming service.

Netflix succeeds because of the classics – shows, whether new or old, that people will continue watching and talking about for years to come. Terra Nova doesn’t have that yet, and likely never will. Arrested Development does, as do many of the shows mentioned on the list above.

In other news, Eureka’s Salli Richardson and Missourian Greg Cromer (who you may remember as Community’s “doctor who is so skilled at pottery that he makes Jeff jealous” – before he turns into a zombie, that is) will play a rich couple turned poor on Downwardly Mobile.

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on House, Fringe, Castle, HIMYM, NCIS, Grey’s, The Killing and More! – TVLine

I love these inside scoop posts! This time, we find out that the final episodes of House will have plenty of House/Wilson moments, Castle will have zombies, Jimmy’s wedding on NCIS will be colorful, a new title for the Bones season finale, and that the How I Met Your Mother season finale will be magical.

House Exclusive: Look Who’s Back For the Finale! – TVLine

It’s hard for me to imagine TV without House, MD. Since Cuddy’s not able to make it back for the finale, at least Thirteen will. It’s been rumored that other House alums will return for the finale. Who do you think will come back for the last episode?

First Look: The CW’s Green Arrow Pilot Unleashes a ‘Darker, Harder-Edged’ Superhero – TVLine

Well, if the cast and the description wasn’t enough to make me check out Arrow, this photo certainly is! Gone is the cartoonish superhero, here is a modern version of a dark Robin Hood. (Hawkeye should have looked half this cool in The Avengers‘ trailers.)

March Madness: Warehouse 13 vs. Castle

The Final Four continues! Warehouse 13 barely eked out a victory over Burn Notice, but Castle trounced How I Met Your Mother. Now, two shows featuring charming jokesters and their more uptight partners face off for a chance to make it to the final match.

Show descriptions, in case you’ve been asleep for the past three rounds:

Warehouse 13 – After saving the life of the President in Washington D.C., a pair of U.S Secret Service agents are whisked away to a covert location in South Dakota that houses supernatural objects that the Regents, an Authority above and outside any government, have collected over the centuries. Their new assignment: retrieve any lost objects and investigate reports of new ones.

Castle – After a serial killer imitates the plots of his novels, successful mystery novelist Richard “Rick” Castle (Nathan Fillion) gets permission from the Mayor of New York City to tag along with an NYPD homicide investigation team for research purposes. He partners with Detective Kate Beckett, and uses a fictionalized version of her as the main character of his new series.
