March Madness: Winner – Psych!

After an arduous month-long war, USA Network’s Psych has emerged as the victor of the first annual TV Breakroom March Madness!

The head-to-head final against Castle was the most difficult battle of the tournament. Each show garnered more than 300 votes, but in the end, Psych won by a mere eight votes! (There were some instances of double voting on both sides – I hope the perpetrators were simply casting votes for family members and not stuffing the ballot box.)

Psych’s odds were helped by some noteworthy accounts tweeting about the match-up. The official Psych twitter, Dulé Hill (who plays Gus on the show), and Maggie Lawson (who plays Juliet), among others, helped spread the news. Some Castle twitter accounts got in on the buzz as well, including fan site Castle TV and Molly Quinn (who plays Alexis Castle).

To celebrate Psych’s win, I’ve updated the background of this site with some Shawn and Gus awesomeness.

The winner of the $15 Amazon gift card will be announced tomorrow. You still have time to leave comments anywhere on the site (one per post) to get entries for the drawing. Giveaway will close at 11:59 PM EDT tonight.

Because of the wonderful reception you all gave to this March Madness tournament, I’m planning to bring in other head-to-head match-ups throughout the year. Check back on April 2 for the debut of Monday Madness!

We finally get a peek at the Clueless reunion on Suburgatory! Doesn’t Alicia Silverstone look like she’s about to say, “As if!” to Jeremy Sisto in this photo? Silverstone’s first episode airs April 18th.

Production Powers Up On Season 2 Of Syfy’s Alphas – Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

Season two of Alphas is about to start filming! Joining the team this year is Detroit 1-8-7’s Erin Way, who plays an Alpha named Kat. Kat is able to pick up any skill for a brief period of time, but the downside of her ability is that the skill, and her memories, fade quickly.

The show will begin airing its 13-episode second season this July.

TV Ratings Thursday: ‘Big Bang Theory’ Doesn’t Dent ‘Community;’ ‘Awake,’ ‘Missing’ Keep Sliding, As Most Shows Decline – Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

People who were worried about The Big Bang Theory affecting Community’s ratings can relax a little – Community’s rating is exactly what it was last week, when CBS was airing basketball. Even better, it was rated higher than 30 Rock, which follows Community in a less competitive timeslot.

Not so good are the ratings for NBC’s Awake, and ABC’s Missing. I’ve only caught one episode of Missing so far and thought it was decent, but I’ll be really sad to see Awake go. It puts such a cool twist on a crime drama (would have loved to see it following NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles on Tuesdays on CBS instead of Unforgettable).

Awake Preview — Laura Allen, Episode 5 – TVLine

Great interview with Laura Allen, who plays Michael Britten’s (Jason Isaacs) wife Hannah on Awake. It’s interesting how the two worlds Britten finds himself in also divide the cast.

‘Bones’ Renewed By Fox For An Eighth Season – Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

So happy we get more Bones, especially since it has been so scarce this year. I think it’s really encouraging that the show was renewed before the studio even had a chance to check out ratings in the new Monday timeslot. The Fox drama will have seven all-new episodes in a row, starting April 2 (8/9 central).

Kenneth Mitchell Cast in Grimm Season 1 Episode – TVLine

Bigfoot’s coming to Grimm! Or at least it will be a Sasquatch-like wesen, played by Kenneth Mitchell (best known for his role on Jericho, he was also on the superhero Castle episode).

And yes, I think I watch too much TV – when I heard about this, all I could think of was how excited Marshall from How I Met Your Mother would be to have proof that Bigfoot is real.

The episode is set to air during May sweeps.

Castle Recap — Season 4, Episode 19 — Kate’s Secret Revealed – TVLine

Great recap of tonight’s episode – if you haven’t seen it yet, stop reading and don’t click on the link!

I was kind of disappointed that we only got one side of the story this week – he knows that she remembers, but she doesn’t know that he knows that she remembers. And with all the hubbub surrounding Beckett’s big secret, what is currently going on with Castle’s secret? Hasn’t been anything active going on with his investigation for a while.

Still, with only 4 episodes left in this season, something’s bound to happen very soon!

‘Terra Nova’ Will Not Be Saved By Netflix – Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

So happy with this news! Terra Nova may have been a decent show, but there are so many other fabulous canceled shows the DVD/streaming service could save. In fact, since Terra Nova was so expensive to produce, Netflix probably could bring two shows for the same amount. What show(s) would you want Netflix to save?

BBC America Co-Production Being Human Commissioned For Fifth Season – Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

Glad to see that the original Being Human will have a season 5! It’s one of the shows that got me to give Buffy the Vampire Slayer another try. I can tell by this photo that there’s been a lot of changes since I watched the season 3 finale!
